Jumeirah Beach Residence: Overview

Jumeirah Beach Residence, known as JBR, is located between Dubai Marina and the sea. It runs along a long stretch of coastline and is easy to recognize by its sandy-colored towers facing the beach.

The area is built around two main parts: the public beach and The Walk, a wide promenade filled with restaurants, cafés, shops, hotels, and apartments. Everything is close together, making JBR easy to explore.

It’s a lively area, especially in the late afternoon and evening.

Things to Do at JBR

Spend time at the beach

JBR Beach is a public beach and is open to everyone. You can bring your own towel and use the public areas freely. During peak season, it gets busy, so it is better to arrive early.

If you want more comfort, sunbeds and cabanas are available for rent. Food and drinks can be ordered to your sunbed, so you don’t need to leave the beach when you get hungry.

There are restrooms nearby, and showers are available for a small fee.

Some beach sections belong to hotels. If you’re not staying there, you can still access them by buying a day pass, which gives you more privacy and a calmer beach experience.

For something more active, JBR Beach offers water sports like jet skiing, banana boat rides, and Aquafun, the large inflatable water park set up on the water near the shore. It’s popular with both kids and adults.

Eat and drink around The Walk

JBR has plenty of places to eat, whether you’re stopping for breakfast, dinner, or something casual by the beach.

In the evenings, The Walk becomes especially busy, with people sitting outside, having dinner, or just stopping for a drink. You’ll find Middle Eastern food, international restaurants, cafés, and hotel dining options.

For breakfast or brunch, Eggspectation is an easy and popular choice. If you like Middle Eastern food, Awani and ZouZou are both good options right along The Walk.

If you’re in the mood for seafood, The Maine Oyster Bar & Grill is one of the better-known spots in the area. For burgers and shakes, Black Tap at Rixos Premium JBR is always busy for a reason.

For a special evening, Zeta Seventy Seven at Address Beach Resort is known for its views over the sea and Ain Dubai. And if you want a mix of food, drinks, and a lively atmosphere, Bla Bla Dubai is an easy place to spend a few hours.

Shopping without a mall feeling

Shopping at JBR is relaxed and spread out along The Walk rather than inside a large mall.

You’ll find clothing stores, beachwear, souvenir shops, small pop-up stands, and local stores. There are also supermarkets, pharmacies, and beauty shops, which are convenient if you’re staying nearby.

It’s easy to combine shopping with a walk or a coffee stop.

Walk, sit, or take it slow

The Walk at JBR is designed for walking, especially in the evening when the temperature drops. Many people come here just to walk, sit on benches, or stop for ice cream or a drink.

JBR is a good area for families. There are several small playgrounds near residential buildings and one directly on the beach, all free to use.
